Sage Technology is a subsidiary of Prometheus Group.
Australian-based software company Sage Technology has been sold to multinational US-based business, Prometheus Group.
The sale was completed yesterday (Wednesday 31 May 2017) and coincided with the retirement of Sage Technology founder and managing director, Lynda Bertoli, more than 27 years after she first started the company with a business partner. More...
Since 1990, Ms Bertoli has guided Sage Technology from a two-person start-up focussed on computer consulting, to a thriving software development company with customers that include AGL, Energy Australia, Woodside, Roy Hill, Rio Tinto and Fortescue.
The company’s sale is set to expand the reach of Sage Technology’s safe work software products to a larger global market and presents an exciting opportunity for the 20 existing Sage employees, who will remain with the company and continue to work from Hazelwood Road, Morwell in Victoria.
Current Sage Technology director, Peter Kingwill of Yarragon, will lead the Morwell-based team under the new structure.
Prometheus Group is a leading global provider of comprehensive and intuitive enterprise asset management software solutions, specialising in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution.
Developed jointly with end users, Prometheus software enhances the customer experience with intuitive functionality, graphical visualisation, and simple processes, enabling the company’s customers to increase productivity, reduce costs and improve reporting.
Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, the company also has offices in Argentina, Brazil, the United Kingdom and Netherlands, as well as an office in Queensland and now Morwell.
Prometheus Group works in a similar market to Sage Technology, but without an electronic permit to work software product.
Sage Technology is recognised as one of the leading electronic permit to work specialists in the world.
According to Mr Kingwill, the sale reflected the “incredible and innovative work” of the Morwell team.
“Prometheus Group searched the globe for a company to partner with and decided Sage Technology produced the best electronic permit to work solution in the market today,” Mr Kingwill said.
“Prometheus is a well-respected, rapidly-growing company that, like Sage, is known for outstanding products and customer satisfaction.
“The sale presents a tremendous opportunity for us to realise our dream of having our products used by the largest oil, gas, chemicals and mining companies in the world.”
Ms Bertoli described the sale as the “perfect way” to close out her business career.
“I am so proud of what we have created and achieved at Sage Technology over the last 27 years and can’t wait to see what’s in store for the company into the future as part of Prometheus Group,” Ms Bertoli said.
“My vision was always to see our products used on a greater scale worldwide, and now it will be realised.” Less...
